The Lester's

One of these things is not like the other... it's the K9, duh. Gathered the troops and headed out for some photos on a warm late July evening. Lugged the camera, tripod, umbrella & stand, flash, misc. and dog treats out to this field not far from our house for some warm late summer light family photos. The kind your house guests gag at when they see them above your fireplace.

Galatea Lake

The plan was to repeat my trip up to the gorgeous lower Galatea Lake last done 2 years earlier. This time with my 5D and some L glass to record the journey. I began my run at dawn and traveled the 7km and 2000ft (615m) elevation gain to the lake. I arrived at Lillian lake in under an hour and at the lower Galatea about half an hour later. When i began to shoot, the light was not high enough overhead to illuminate the aqua/emerald color of the lake. I waited 45min but at that time, the wind had picked up enough to spoil the clear view to the bottom of the lake. I managed a few hand held shots before the sleepy-eyed hikers began to arrive from Lillian lake back country campground.

This is a stitched panorama/vertorama of 10 images shot at 20mm.

Found these little finger nail sized flowers blossoming at 8500ft. My 100mm f2.8 to the rescue.

About Me

Since I tend to spill my drink when moving at high speeds, I combine just two of my addictions: running and photography. I travel heavy with thousands of dollars of equipment in a $30 running backpack. That is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the stupidity I get into while fumbling around in my majestic backyard.
